Trauma-Competent Care Matters
If you’re navigating a complex health journey whether managing hormonal changes, recovering from surgery, or supporting bone density—nutrition is only one part of the picture.
The emotional and psychological impact of medical diagnoses and bodily changes requires an approach grounded in genuine safety, compassion, and evidence-based clinical care.
I am pleased to share that I have completed the National Centre for Integrative Oncology (NCIO) accredited CPD course: Foundations of Integrative Psycho-Oncology and Trauma Competent Care.
A medical diagnosis or sudden physical transition often triggers a heightened state of stress. When the nervous system remains in a fight-or-flight response, blood sugar balance, sleep quality, gut health, and systemic inflammation are all affected. This CPD Course opened my eyes to the wide range of complementary therapies available as support to anyone during or after cancer treatment and to two brilliant organisations : National Centre for Integrative Oncology (NCIO) and The Growth and Resilience in Trauma Centre (GRiT).
Incorporating trauma-informed principles into my clinical practice ensures that:
-
Care Is Centered Around Safety: Recommendations are tailored to your pace, reducing stress rather than adding to an already overwhelming to-do list.
-
The Body-Mind Connection Is Respected: Nutritional support works in harmony with your nervous system, promoting restful sleep, cortisol balance, and metabolic resilience.
-
Guidance Complements Medical Care: All nutrition strategies strictly align with prehabilitation principles, surgical recovery, and primary care protocols.
My goal is to provide a calm, evidence-based space where you feel supported at every stage of your health journey.
